If you live in the Boston area and have been paying attention to the electronic music scene over the past few years, you already know about Together. If you haven’t, Together is Boston’s very own electronic music festival! The festival combines events every night with panels, discussions and screenings during the day. Aka a great way to network, rub shoulders with some of your favorite artists, and explore different Boston venues.

Part of this year’s line up has been announced and I’m already excited. Acts include Break Science, Gramatik, Treasure Fingers and RJD2 to name a few. The full line up is here. On top of announcing the initial line up, Together has also put some early bird tickets on sale. General passes are $85 and plus passes are $130. A regular pass includes free access to all night time events (depending on space) and priority access to all panels, screenings, demonstrations, exhibitions and other daytime events. Plus passes include both features of the general pass as well as a goody bag, t-shirt, free admission to weekend events at Rise, access to the private VIP launch party, and an entry to win an iPod touch thanks to partner Beantown Boogiedown.

On top of all this goodness, there is also a warm up party! French Fries and Bambounou will be at Brighton Music Hall this Saturday, 2/25 to rock your bodies in preparation. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased here.

Clockwork – OMGITM February 2012 Mix

I love the variety in Clockwork’s mix. He has a great flow going and it is diverse enough to hold my attention. If you happen to be in the Burlington, VT area tomorrow, you can catch him at Club Metronome.

Designer Drugs – Datamix 16

If you aren’t familiar with Designer Drug’s Datamixes, you should be. Typically filled with all the latest bangers, these mixes are great pre-party (or even house party) choices. If you’re in the Boston area, you can catch Designer Drugs at the Middle East on March 6th.

Hardwell – On Air Mix 47 (1/20/2012)

I have such a soft spot for Hardwell. He makes the best kind of upbeat house music. This mix is about a month old, but is still full of current house hits. I dare you to put this on and not find yourself bopping around at some point. Hardwell’s been touring around the area with the Winter White Tour this month, and he’ll also be making a stop at Splash in Boston tomorrow night. If you can, definitely catch one of his sets.

So I guess there’s like, a holiday today or something? This weekend I had the hilarious idea of creating a music post full of creepy stalker songs, but in retrospect that seemed a little bitter and so I went for an overall mix. I’d like to think of today’s post as a mix of creepy, happy and sad songs that span all genres. For easy listening, I’ve divided them into what I would classify each as.

Lovey-Dovey/Uplifting/Hopeful

Dirty Joe South & Flufftronix – Luvstep 3 (Chill)

The third edition of Luvstep. If you don’t know what Luvstep is, check out the website here. If you’re looking to something to groove tonight, this should be it.

Lucky Date – I Want You (Dubstep)

Lucky Date sings on this track! Kinda cool. You can catch Lucky Date on Excision’s X Tour. This track isn’t exactly happy or particularly uplifting but it is definitely not creepy or sad so I’m putting it here. Deal with it.

Classic banging track! This music video is also very cool (I want those pink high tops like nobody’s business) and goes with the track really well. Lotsa grimy drops, this is great tune.

Red Rack’em – In Love Again (Chill)

I don’t usually go for tracks like this, but I could totally see putting this track on and making some serious moves on some stud. I’d call it mystical and relaxed with some nice, pleasant lyrics.

Chase & Status – Time (Electro/Dubstep)

Chase and Status, oh how I love thee. I wasn’t sure if this track belonged in happy or sad, but I think the overall message is positive. Well, sort of. It’s hopefully anyway. This is only a sample because I couldn’t find the whole track online, which makes me sad.

Fedde Le Grand – So Much Love (House)

Yay! It’s about time there was some happy house. I LOVE this track, and the video makes me smile. This song literally fills me with so much love (I’m wicked funny, I know). I would suggest putting this on and dancing around while you get ready for a hot date. Or putting it on and just dancing around (who needs dates?).

Calvin Harris – Feel So Close (Fareoh Bootleg) (House)

I would marry Calvin Harris. I mean, most people would, but I would absolutely marry him. Fareoh does a great job of lifting this track up even higher. The use of Daft Punk is always appreciated too. Whenever I listen to this song, I belt out all lyrics, throw my hands up in the air and bounce around. It doesn’t even matter if I’m in public because it’s THAT good.

Nero & Flux Pavilion – Must Be the Feeling (Dubstep)

A mostly-ambiguous happy love song. I think. Unless you think dubstep automatically means bad things, in which case you are a fool! If this doesn’t get you womp-stomping at all, then I’m not sure what to tell you. You’re probably dead.

Robyn – Hang With Me (Reset! Remix) (Electro/House)

This one is all about letting someone know you kind of like them. Totally sweet! Reset! adds an upbeat atmosphere in the best way possible.

Creepy/Stalkerish/Funny

Chase & Status – Let You Go (Nero Remix) (Dubstep)

Two of my favorites on ONE TRACK?! Heaven. Also, probably the creepiest song ever. But let’s be honest, who at some point hasn’t felt like they needed to track down their ex and force them to love them?

Magnetic Man – I Need Air (Dubstep/Chill)

This song is epic; so so good. But, also a little creepy. It’s all about being smothered in a relationship, which is generally not really a good thing. At least, that’s my interpretation. Doesn’t mean it’s not AMAZING though.

Magnetic Man ft. Katy B – Perfect Stranger (Dubstep/Chill-er)

Another Magnetic Man track. Don’t you wish they would tour? I do. I put this under creep/stalkerish because the whole song is about some stranger that Katy B instantly falls in love with and creates this whole future with. Kind of intense for a first meeting, no?

Robyn – Dancing on My Own (Fred Falke Remix) (House)

Including this here because this song is all about Robyn going out somewhere so she can watch her ex while they dance with someone else. But don’t worry, Robyn isn’t gonna do anything about it, just watch. SO CREEPY. The track itself is a solid house track, and I’m partial to Fred Falke so I’m a pretty big fan.

Dodge & Fuski – Pornstep ft. The Highbury Whores (Dubstep)

This song is the entire reason I included funny in this category. Not funny and not sad, this wompalicious track samples sexy noises from porn over dirty dirty drops. To note: if you start to be able to sing along to it, you’ve listened to it too many times.

Kaskade ft. Skylar Grey – Room for Happiness (Fire Mix) (House)

The ice mix of this song is the saddest song ever. But when paired with some uplifting house music, the meaning takes a slightly more bittersweet turn. I love what Kaskade does with it and both the fire and ice mixes are my favorite of his latest album.

Neon Hitch – F U Betta (Chuckie Remix) (House)

This original track is a great, dance-able tune to begin with, but Chuckie adds that extra layer of party. More of an in-your-face song about being better than an ex’s new lady.

Redlight – Get Out My Head (Electro/House)

This song is all about getting over an ex. Clearly things didn’t go well. But the upbeat tone and great synth work makes the whole process actually sound easy. Perfect for that f-you-ex mindset. Or keying an ex’s car, burning all your memories together or playing darts with a picture of their face. My only issue with this song? I wish it was longer.

Calvin Harris – You Used to Hold Me (Stars Above Remix) (House)

I had a hard time deciding which version of this song I wanted to use and I ultimately went with Stars Above because of their awesome use of synth. They do an already delicious track much justice. Definitely worth a listen.

Robyn – Call Your Girlfriend (Feed Me Remix) (Electro)

Another Robyn track! She’s my boo. Feed Me adds the perfect amount of grime to a song all about being the other woman.
